L’Association de financement des professionnels du transport urbain (Aftu), qui exploite les minibus de transport en commun, a décidé de réduire le coût de ses sous-sections. Ce, pour participer à l’effort de baisse du gouvernement.
The public transport association Aftu has announced plans to reduce fares on its network. According to a statement made on Rfm radio, the organization intends to reintroduce a 100-franc fare tier across its extensive service lines.
Mohamed Ndoye, a member of Aftu’s administrative council, stated, “Aftu is pleased to announce the forthcoming return of the 100-franc fare on all our lines. We have 72 lines covering 52 out of 53 communes in Dakar.”
Regarding the timeline for implementing this reduction, Ndoye provided an update: “It is certain that in the coming weeks or within a month, we will do our utmost to bring it into effect.”
He further explained the rationale behind the decision, linking it to broader economic measures: “We know this fare is anticipated, so we are committed to reinstating it to provide a more affordable service. We have seen that the state has reduced fuel prices. This has benefited us greatly and will have a positive impact on the transport sector.”
